mailART for June
Wednesday, June 16, 2010 at 04:45PM Last month when I said that rejection wasn't a buzz-kill? I lied. It totally derailed me. I fell hard, and wallowed in self-doubt and criticism despite my pep talk via blog post. And then, thanks to some clear messages from my post-op knee, I realized this "turning on myself" was contraindicated for my health. So I dropped the harshness.
Feels like I'm back on track, doing the basics: morning pages, PT, client work ramping up. Most importantly, I'm getting my hands on my art, daily. This feels crucial to my sanity, frankly. I also pulled out books from my touchstones and guides: Julia Cameron, Natalie Goldberg, Anne Lamott. These women have lived the artist's life far longer than I and their advice feels like it's written specifically for me right now.
June's mailART exchange with my friend Elizabeth reflects a lot of this, although we didn't plan it. That seems to be the thing with collage and our wavelength across the miles these days.

BTW, I hosted a "Dailyness of Art" workshop in my home last Saturday. Wow! It was an incredible experience. See Vibrant Visionary Collage on facebook for more about that.

Dearest Vibrant Visionary Collage-ist!
I LOVE the" walking blind" reference in this powerful collage. Turning our vision inward and using our intuition to navigate the raod map of life, is the path of being in the moment.
You and Elizabeth are so ONTO the art of powerful visual communication-and it strikes close to my heart and takes leaves me a little breathlesst! Hurray for FE-MAIL,right? isn't it a good feeling to be creating these small personal works and sending them through the mail?
Having the confidence to just BE is the key! Awakening to that inner purpose and voice that arises from the stillness, is the true path to inner knowing and purpose.
Your correspondence with each other is guiding you in the direction of your truth through creativity, as surely as glue adheres one piece of paper to another!
Let your knee be your teacher around slowing down and savoring the Moment. Soon enough life will speed up again leaving you to remember the special quality of this time of recovery when less doing was required and more Being was the key!
Keep sharing this wonderment, xoxox Karen!
